Terms of Use — Italy Champion

DRAFT — requires legal review. This text is not yet in force; the items in double square brackets must be completed before publication.

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Welcome to Italy Champion (the "Game"), operated by [[CONTROLLER_LEGAL_NAME]], [[ADDRESS]] ("we", "us", the "Operator").

These Terms govern your use of the Game on the website www.mapchampion.com and in the Android app distributed through Google Play. By using the Game you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Game.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law — in particular the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005) and the Italian Civil Code — or under the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you habitually reside. Where a clause below conflicts with such a rule, that rule prevails.

An Italian version of these Terms is available. In case of any discrepancy, the Italian version prevails.

1. The service

The Game is a geography guessing game, provided free of charge for entertainment. It is funded by advertising.

We may add, change or remove features to improve the Game, keep it secure or comply with the law. Where a change significantly and negatively affects your use of the Game, we will inform you in advance within the Game where the law requires it.

2. Who may use the Game

The Game is not directed at children under 14. If you are under 18, please use the Game with the knowledge and involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Game for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Except where the law expressly allows it, you may not copy, distribute, sell, rent or modify the Game, reverse-engineer it, extract or scrape its data, or use the Game or its content to train artificial intelligence models.

4. Intellectual property

All rights in the Game — including its code, design, graphics, maps, texts, name and logos — belong to us or to those who licensed them to us. Using the Game does not transfer any of these rights to you.

If you believe that content in the Game infringes your rights, contact us (section 19) and we will examine the report and act where appropriate.

5. Geographic content

The Game contains place names, maps, borders and geographic data drawn from public sources and third parties. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or disputed.

The Game is entertainment only. It is not a navigation, mapping, surveying or educational tool and must not be relied on for any of those purposes.

The display of names, maps, areas or borders does not express any political or legal position on the sovereignty, ownership or status of any territory.

6. The leaderboard and display names

You may choose a display name to appear on the leaderboard. Doing so is optional.

Your display name is public: it is shown to all players on the leaderboard and to your 1v1 opponent. Do not use your real name or anyone else's, and do not choose a name that is offensive, unlawful, misleading, infringing, or that reveals private information.

We may remove or reset a display name or leaderboard entry that breaches these Terms, or that results from cheating or a malfunction.

The leaderboard is not a contest, prize competition or game of chance. No prize, payment or benefit of any kind is awarded for a score or ranking. Scores have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged or transferred.

7. 1v1 matches

The Game may let you play against another player in real time ("1v1"). It is optional.

Your opponent is matched automatically among the players waiting at the same time. We cannot guarantee that an opponent will be found or that a match will be completed.

During and after a match your opponent sees your display name, your map guesses, your score and the result.

Leaving a match, disconnecting, or not responding within the time allowed may count as a forfeit. 1v1 results are not written to the leaderboard. A 1v1 match is not a contest or game of chance, carries no prize, and must not be made the subject of any bet or payment between players.

We may cancel a match or correct its result where there is a malfunction or a reasonable suspicion of cheating.

8. Prohibited use

You must not use the Game:

If you breach these Terms we may, proportionately to the breach, limit or suspend your access or remove the related data.

9. Advertising

The Game shows third-party advertising, provided through Google AdSense (website) and Google AdMob (app). The content of ads is chosen largely by Google and its partners, not by us. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser.

The Game may offer an optional rewarded video that grants an in-game benefit (an extra life). Such videos depend on availability, and the benefit is granted only when the video has been shown successfully.

10. Privacy

How we process personal data, and how you can manage your advertising and analytics choices (Menu → Privacy settings), is explained in our Privacy Policy, available from the Game's menu.

11. Your game data

Game data — progress, scores, history, 1v1 results, display name — is kept for the periods described in the Privacy Policy. In particular, game records expire automatically after 60 days. We do not offer a backup service, and data stored on your device may be lost if you clear your browser data or uninstall the app.

12. Availability, changes and discontinuation

We make reasonable efforts to keep the Game available, but it may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, technical problems or causes beyond our control.

Since the Game is free, we may decide to discontinue it. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice within the Game in advance.

13. Android app

The app is distributed through Google Play, and its use is also subject to Google Play's terms. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Game.

14. Third-party services

The Game relies on third-party services (including cloud hosting, map data and Google). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for the content of third-party websites reached through ads or links.

15. Warranty

The Game is provided free of charge. To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranty that it will meet your expectations, run on every device, or be free of errors or interruptions.

This does not affect the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services, or any other right you have as a consumer under the Italian Consumer Code, where those rights apply.

16. Liability

We are responsible for damage caused by our breach of these Terms within the limits of the law.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage that was not foreseeable, for damage caused by events beyond our reasonable control, by other players or by third-party services, or for loss of in-game data, scores or rankings.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence (Article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code), for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law.

17. Termination

You may stop using the Game at any time and uninstall the app; you can also ask us to delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end your access in case of a serious breach of these Terms or of the law, or to protect the Game, its servers or other players.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when the Game or the law changes. The updated version will be published on this page with its date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will inform you within the Game before it takes effect. If you do not accept the new Terms, you may stop using the Game.

19. Governing law, disputes and contact

These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you habitually reside.

If you are a consumer residing in Italy, the court of the place where you reside or are domiciled has jurisdiction over any dispute (Article 66-bis of the Italian Consumer Code). Consumers residing in another EU country may also bring proceedings in the courts of their own country.

Before going to court, please write to us: most problems can be solved quickly. You may also use the out-of-court dispute resolution procedures available under the Italian Consumer Code.
